Make your
beer league
official.

WSTLO is the international federation for social tennis leagues: the beer and wine leagues where the draft is an event, captains talk trash, and the season ends with a real playoff and a real champion. We set the standard, recognize the leagues that meet it, and connect them to chapters around the world.

The WSTLO seal: a tennis ball drawn as a globe, ringed by the words World Social Tennis League Organization, Est. 2026, wstlo.org

The Format

What a WSTLO league
looks like

Plenty of groups hit on Tuesday nights. A WSTLO league runs a real season. Four elements are required before a league can join; the rest is what makes it worth showing up.

The Draft

Captains pick their rosters before every season, with a published draft order. Draft night is usually the best party of the year.

Required

Captains

One named captain per team who sets the lineup, recruits subs and answers for the team's conduct on and off the court.

Required

Playoffs

A bracket after the regular season, seeded by the standings, so every match in the regular season counts for something.

Required

A Championship

One night that crowns one team. Bragging rights for a year, and a name on the league's record at wstlo.org.

Required

The Social Hour

Beer, wine and a cooler on the bench. The hang after the match is half the reason people sign up, so it gets its own place on the schedule.

The tradition

A Commissioner

One person who keeps the schedule, the standings and the peace, and serves as the league's contact with its WSTLO chapter.

Standard

A Real Season

At least four teams and six weeks of scheduled team matches before the playoffs begin.

Standard

Written Rules

Published league rules, a code of conduct and a signed player waiver every season, so everyone knows how it works before the first serve.

How to Join

From Tuesday-night hit
to official league

  1. Run a season in the format

Draft, captains, playoffs and a championship. If your league doesn't have one of them yet, start it this season.

  2. Apply on wstlo.org

Send your league's rules, schedule, standings and champion from the qualifying season.

  3. Chapter review

Your state or province chapter reviews the application within 30 days, or WSTLO International does where no chapter exists yet.

  4. Sign and pay dues

Approved leagues sign the Member League Agreement and pay annual dues.

  5. Get listed and wear it

Your league is listed on wstlo.org and can put the WSTLO seal on shirts, patches and trophies.

  6. Renew every year

Send the season record and renew. Champions go on the record.

Social tennis has always had its own culture: a cooler on the bench, a glass of wine between sets, captains who take the draft more seriously than the match. WSTLO exists to give that culture a standard and a home.

Member leagues keep their own names, venues, rules and traditions. What they share is the format, a code of conduct and a network of leagues in other cities, states and countries playing the same way.

Membership is open to leagues, not individual players. A league applies once, through its commissioner, on behalf of all its teams.

Play responsiblyEvery WSTLO league is for players 21 and over (or the legal drinking age where you play). WSTLO and its chapters never sell or serve alcohol; leagues follow venue rules and local law.

Chapters

One organization,
three levels

Leagues join through their local chapter. Every chapter answers to the one above it, so the standard is the same in Baton Rouge as it is anywhere else.

Level 1

International

Sets the standards, charters country chapters, keeps the member registry and owns the WSTLO name and seal.
